What is new? The podcasts have slowed down.. it’s really just because I got busy with advocating for unsheltered people. Putting a lot of time into Fremont’s Camping Ban.. you have likely heard of it. It was the most harsh rule ever. Even Newsom said they went too far. Recently, SB 634 was passed into law.. which means you can’t charge or fine people who want to help those in need. Many non-profits this is their mission/purpose. Before the city said no aiding and bedding..even their case workers did not go out and do outreach in fear of being fined and put into jail. The city council agreed to transfer $1 million dollars from their homeless plan to the police department to catch people sleeping in the parks, helping others, etc. They would have been ahead of the game if they put that money into housing. (the money as we know it, has not been returned to their homeless plan.) Their excuse now is, we don’t have any money for housing.. I’ve been a member of Fremont 4 Everyone since 2019, just been very active in the last year. Now it’s time to move on.. Joined a Climate and Sustainability group, a friend of mine invited me to check it out.. the next meeting will be in San Carlos, Tuesday 28th.. I will hopefully soon, create some networking events in San Jose and Fremont. if you want to know more go to: 4ward. It’s a global group on circle a membership platform. I am doing a newsletter called “Radical News “(kindness), it’s a monthly issue it comes out about the 15 – 20th each month. I found from posting events, the 21st was a little too late for people to get the information. If interested you can subscribe below. The first 5 issues you can find them on this page. https://kindnessatwork.us/radical-news/past-issues-of-radical-news/ What is Sustainability? noun The ability to sustain something. A means of configuring civilization and human activity so that society, its members and its economies are able to meet their needs and express their greatest potential in the present, while preserving biodiversity and natural ecosystems, planning and acting for the ability to maintain these ideals for future generations. The property of being sustainable. Wiktionary, Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License Wikipedia is having a fundraiser donate whatever you can…https://www.wikipedia.org/ I’ve used the site to confirm the information, do research etc.. What is next? Will continue doing podcasts and interviewing people who want to share their story.. If you are one of those people just book a call using this link https://fantastical.app/Mari-Lyn/talk-show-booking Any other questions or suggestions or comments you can reach out to me via contact form Kindness is not new.. people keep talks about Wellness of oneself, when if we all were a little more kind to ourselves, we wouldn’t be needing a national day for wellness. This was a topic on LinkedIn.. I’ve written a lot of about this topic under the tab of Living well there are more articles. I hope some of this information was helpful. Until next time, #bekind #kindnessmatters #youareworthit

Kevin Smith Esp #194
Kevin Smith Esp #194 on Good Friday morning 2023, fate and circumstances intervened when a lost wallet was returned to him by a Good Samaritan within moments after he discovered it was missing. Kevin’s desire to identify and thank the young woman in a more meaningful way soon became an unexpected adventure of a lifetime, causing a moment to turn into a movement and the catalyst to form the global nonprofit Kindness Worldwide. Launched November 9, 2023, Kindness Worldwide’s vision “to create a culture of kindness in communities throughout the world”, and the story that inspired it, has attracted the attention of prominent leaders and influencers at the national and global level including the World Kindness Movement. He recently delivered keynote remarks at its 11th General Assembly in Palermo, Italy and called on leaders at all levels in all communities including every member nation of the United Nations to elevate kindness to the global shared value that represents all of humanity. Kevin Smith Esp #194 commitment for this call to action to be heeded and passion for the vision of Kindness Worldwide to be achieved has rejuvenated his purpose and brought new life to his belief that “the meaning of life is to live it in a way to make a meaningful difference.” Changing the world through kindness is by far his most meaningful pursuit yet. Instead, he found greater meaning and purpose by founding what is now Smith Wealth Advisory Group in 2001, with a team of advisors dedicated to helping others translate their monetary resources into meaningful life experiences by experiencing the riches of life itself. Kevin Smith Esp #194 He has been recognized by Barron’s, Forbes, and the Financial Times as one of the top wealth advisors in the country, and his attainment of 14 professional designations is unparalleled in the financial services industry. Shaped by the values of his upbringing, Kevin Smith’s guiding principle is his conviction that “the meaning of life is to live it in a way to make a meaningful difference.” Upon graduating Phi Beta Kappa as Class Salutatorian from Gettysburg College in 1989, Kevin joined a Fortune 500 company where he quickly rose the corporate ranks to become Director of its largest business unit. Soon after this promotion, he walked away and left a promising 12 year-corporate career behind. Kevin Smith and his wife Anne of 30+ years live in York, PA and are the proud “pet parents” of their 10 year old Bichon Frise “Bella,” an adorable lapful of charm in puffy white clouds of cotton ball hair. Words have Power Eps #193
Words have Power Eps #193, let’s not define people’s situation of where they are, show your humanity. Where’s your compassion? The White paper is about changing our language and words, focusing on their experiences rather than who they are. Our vocabulary of naming people needs to change to foster empathy and compassion. You wouldn’t call a person by their “cancer” or a “heart attack,” you would call them by their name. The same if a person is experiencing being unhoused or is needing housing. NOT “Homeless.” It’s not a crime to be unhoused. This is my intro for the paper, you can download it here. Dehumanizing language leads to dehumanizing treatment, words carry implicit meanings. When people are labeled as “homeless.” it can make it easier to discriminate, distance yourself from them. They tend to be excluded from public places or services. An intolerance for policies that would be unacceptable if they are applied to housed individuals. Much to do, use your words powerfully positive. Be Kind! Be a blessing, check out other guests on this channel. Mari-Lyn
